The Lindau Gospel covers are yet another example of the devotion to the religion they were following. To spend that much time and money on simply the cover of portions of the Bible is pretty incredible. These are bedecked with gold, jewels, and silver, technically more valuable than the writing inside, but not believed so by the people covering the Word of God with such expensive decoration.
