This is just one fresco from the series depicting Christ's life in the Sistine Chapel. The scene shows the Jesus handing over the keys to His Church to Peter. The structures in the back are distinctly Roman and the two main characters are surrounded by Jesus' followers. In the back, there are two other scenes from Jesus' life taking place: The Tribute Money and the Stoning of Christ. There is a strong sense of environment and location created by the extremely detailed rendering of the buildings and the sense of infinitely expanding landscape beyond this immediate location.
