The Tell Asmar statuettes are a group of twelve human effigies found at the sight that is now part of their name. All of them have the same clasped hands, upturned faces, and large gaping eyes. They are thought to be gods and goddesses because they are dressed in the finery of their time. They were found stacked on top of each other by the floor of what researchers call the Square Temple.
